7 days and counting!

Week Off Work!

So sleeping AT NIGHT! IN A BED!
With a week off I'm doing nothing tomorrow and maybe Tuesday as I'm catching up on my sleep.
So last night being the last for a week I took a few bits in and a can of black spray to get half the paint job done on, well, everything.

The Dread for The Dispossessed Talon got a base coat,

I was playing around with the head here over a helmeted version, but personally this only really works on a Librarian dread to my mind. The light is so bad today I had to use the damn flash.

The medic got a black base coat, I'm planning on doing it like this, just with a white tabard

And the Vorax also got a base coat of black.

Even with the light on it wasn't great in the kitchen .

So I went in close.

What Took You So Long?

From the Warhammer App.

Flexibility

After snapping one of the flexible ammo belts from Forge World, I cheated a bit and bought the ones from Zinge Industries.
They were much easier to bend and fit to the Vorax.

I've got all 3 finished now and plan to drop in at Halfords on my way home to pick up some primer as I'm starting painting the Deathwatch dread and Medic tonight, alongside the Vorax.

Forge World Bulletin 19/08/16

THE LEGIONS GET TACTICAL

Horus Heresy games can be big, much bigger than normal games of Warhammer 40,000. The units can be pretty big too. In the Space Marine Legions, Tactical Squads can include up to 20 bolter wielding Space Marines!

Units of 20 Space Marines can make a real mess of your opponent, and they form the heart of your army, so today we’re releasing 20 man Legion Tactical Squads for each of the 18 Legions.

Each Legion Tactical Squad includes 20 plastic Space Marines in Mk IV Armour, 20 resin Mk IV shoulder pads for your Legion, 10 resin Legion heads and 5 resin Legion torsos. Everything you need to personalise your unit and make a full 20 man Legion Tactical Squad for £90. As they love to be different, the Space Wolves Legion Tactical Squad does not include heads, and is £80.

If you’re not sure how to get started and pick your Legion, we’re here to help. Take a look at our new Getting Started with The Horus Heresy page, it’s full of useful information on the Legions.

Deathwatch Dreadnought

I did see somewhere that this was a re boxing of the Assault on Blackreach dreadnought, well I can confirm that that is not the case, this is an updated version of the Venerable Dreadnought, although I didn't get the Deathwatch bits in with mine, again not an issue as I plan to paint this for one of the pre Heresy Legions for The Dispossessed Talon.
Left my paints at home tonight so will get this started tomorrow night, although I am still looking at legions to paint this as.

The Dispossessed

Within the 30k Dreadnought army box I have a Bjórn the Fell Handed painted in Blood Ravens colours, which is a close match for pre Heresy Thousand Sons, or could well be depending on who you listen to, doing nothing, I've also gone and bought the Deathwatch dread as well so that's 2 extra Dreads.

Casting around to fill this out to a full Talon of 3, I pulled one of the Death Company dreads out of the Knights of Blood box and decided to repaint it as a War Hounds dread, armed, once again, with twin linked heavy flamers and 2 fists.
I'll be re reading Index Astartes before I go to bed to decide who's colours to paint the Deathwatch dread in. Okay in game terms these 3, and future infantry buys, are part of the hold outs from when the Battalion strength Legions had in the field training with the first Legion, I plan to run this force with the shattered legion list, the DA element may have the old field police style paint job on the helmets to represent them being trainers.
The levvy is for reference purposes only.

Okay on to painting, I started off by going over the red areas with a base coat of screaming skull and the shoulders with a base of Kantor blue

When dry I gave the skull areas a nuln oil wash, and the blue areas a draken nightshade wash and then waited for them to dry, which at this time of night means leaving it until I'm back in work tonight.
So back at work again

I started off by giving the shoulders and exhaust pack a lite brush with lotherian blue before doing a 50/50 mix with ice blue and dry brushed that on to the shoulders.
The fists both had a couple of coats of dry brushing with white.

The body also got a couple of coats of bry brushing with the white, before I added some spot details with brass scorpion and scarlet and the ice blue and going over the scrolls with screaming skull.

And done, just need some infantry support now...
