Plans For The Next Squad

Was out to pick my order up {Asmodai, 2 inner circle boxes and dice} and I was working on the slice and dice squad, plan to add 3 thunder hammer tenderisers to go with them. There is 1 metal thunder hammer on its way, I think I need a plastic version as well to go with it and then it's going to be a coin toss /cheapest option.

As well as the 7 minis already in this squad, 2 Tartarus, 2 Cataphractii, a Grey Knight, a bit made from some spare and a bit of techno heresy with a conversion of one of the prototype Terminators into lightning claws. Yes I did feel slightly bad about doing this.

These 3 are the ones I've worked on this week, the resin Tartarus, the one with the aquilas, had 2 arms and claws from the box I bought recently, the other Tartarus was an old one I had in the Dreadnought Legion army that was a Night Lord originally so I had to find a left arm from somewhere, I ended up using a power fist from the Deathwing Assault box on one of the other Tartarus Terminators. 

Yes I did feel like a heretic when I converted this guy into an assault marine. 

 The last of this squad are a a Grey Knight, the Cataphractii preator that I again used lightning claws on and the last one is the last of my scratch builds that I actually feel okay with keeping and those man eater fists work okay on this mini. 

Life Time Goal Achieved

 

And there we have it over 100 Terminators painted and set to go. 

Yes there are 5 grey plastic Tartarus in there, but I'm still over 100 Terminators painted here, when I get those finished it'll be 110 with only the new box of Assault Terminators to roll into this as well as the 30k Cenobites when they come back in stock. 

Okay that was the plan, well still is the plan but I've got a Tartarus & a Cataphractii spare that I'm going to give lightning claws to, this gives me a squad of seven. I'll trawl ebay  looking thunder hammer Terminators to add to this giving me a 10 strong assault squad. 

The last 3 squads that get me over the line., the Assault Cannons and heavy flamer are alas in line to be painted when I get myself in gear to finish the last 7 minis +2 arms. I'm not a fan of how the new ones go together with groin, fitting into a specific back and thighs as it lowers the posableness of the mini but the results are good I'll give them that. 

So to do list before I call this done. 

3 older Thunder Hammer and storm shied Terminators, at least one in metal. 

Save up the £75 plus postage for the Cenobites and get an email alert organised for that one. 

Wait for the Assault Terminators box to drop. 

If the Indomitus pattern gets a heresy release then yes I'll include them and any future Dark Angels characters but I can honestly say I'm nearly there with this. 

Something different

 Yesterday nothing hobby wise got done as I was baking, Monday I reached a life time goal of over 100 Terminators, that post goes up next, this is a baking post.

So yesterday was oldest child's birthday and I decided to bake them a cake for a change and to save at least £80, as the last one I'd bought last year was £75 and I can't imagine it being less. With the money saved I made these dairy free lime drizzle muffins 

225 g of caster sugar 

225g of Unsalted flora dairy free butter 

4 eggs 

225 g of self raising flour

Zest of 1 lime 

Juice of 2 limes

85g caster sugar 

The only changes from the BBC Good Food recipe was the none dairy butter and lime. I've been told these are good, as I only got a chunk of one. 

The big lemon drizzle cake. 

225g caster sugar x2 

225g Unsalted butter x2 

4 eggs x2

225g self raising flour x2 

Zest of lemon x2

Juice of 1 lemon

85g of caster sugar 

No change from the BBC Good Food recipe or process on these, I just did everything twice to get the layers. 

Cut the raised area off one layer to get a flat surface, added some frosting to the middle, then drizzled the lemon sugar over the top. 

I did try this one after I'd dropped it off at their place and it was really good with a nice lemony kick. 

Next one is a Victoria sponge for Saturday. 

Reusing A Captain

 I got the World Eater Captain in Catphractii armour out of the box, it had a beige base coat and a Nuln oil wash on the armour.

The cloak had a few coats of crimson wash, I dug out some Khorn red and gave it a dry brush with that then another dry brush with mephiston red. I really like how this has gone, planning to go back to the Deathwing Knights and Beliel and go over their robes. Those end bits on the epilets are going to be gold. 

The armour bits have had an ushabati bone coat, along with the other catphractii and 10 Terminators, next up is the screaming skull layer then the red, just need to decide if these Terminators are getting red Aquilas or green washed.

 Right 15 more Terminators ready to paint. I've also ordered a box of Tartarus Terminators to finish that squad off in a wysiwyg fashion, just waiting for notification of shipping.

I had to get some new glasses last week despite getting the 'old pair' in October, but I was able to put those Indomitus suits together with just the glasses rather than needing the head set.

Blue Sky Targets are possible

 The Day Job sent me a message Friday from the local County Council telling everyone that we're getting a back dated payrise from March the 1st 2023 to March 31st 2025. The hourly rate is going from £10.42 to £10.90. I spent some time looking at both dairies and working out what I think I'm owed, I missed a couple of weeks so my working out is lower than what I think I'll get by maybe £50, I got £1424.77, so after tax I'm thinking I'll get around about £1100.

This is all great, it means I can get some of those important repairs done and maybe buy that ps5 at last. Which begs the question why am I awake at nearly 3am on Sunday morning looking at this like it's a problem and worrying about it?

Current state of play, the screaming skull is on the bodies and I'm happy with how they look, getting the reikland flesh wash on the metallic bits when I get back in a little bit.

Really like how the shields have come out, there has been a bit more work done on them since I took this one, plan is to get a good photo of the shields on their own for a better look at them. 

The current parts I'm on are the swords I was just waiting for the brass Scorpion to dry before I get a reikland flesh wash on that then it'll be corvus black on the swords and dry brush with iron warrior and leadbleacher. 

The robes have all had 3 layers of Crimson wash on first as I do like how they look.
