Shields

 

Touched up what was left to do on the minis in the squad. When I was looking for the shields for this squad I was only able to find 4 of them.

The rims need a touch up and the seals still need a bit more work and number 5 needs everything doing.

 I'd stripped the dreadnought and have it tucked away in a ramikin.

I had Father's Day a day late with my kids and got some retro cassette tapes and the Captain Rex in Y wing and plenty of baked treats.

I'd picked this kit up last year and just sat on it. 

And all the mini figures.

 Been a while.

Same old excuses though. 

After a while out of the loop this is my first full month back at painting and I've been stuck at work for every day bar one of June so far.

Plan for next month finish the Cenobites Knights squad, and yes I need to find the damn shields again. They are nearly finished, just the scabbards to go and the shields, so if I don't go to Blackpool on Monday I'm hoping to get the minis finished and the shields started. As I'm going through town on my way home regardless of which way I travel, I'm going to pick up some nail varnish remover to clean up the old metal chuck dread with the plan to paint this in the Celebrants colours. 

I think I have everything I need to do this. 

Then it's on to Harlequins with the unmasked Solitaire and an Avatar with power fist and digi weapon. When I've packed the Terminators away I'll get that box out. Oh yes I need to sort out the blade guard veterans back into squads and paint the base rims to match, so a little bit longer with that box in my living room. Going to find the leman russ compensator 6000 and put the plan in place to paint that for the Necromunda 8th with a nice light grey. 

Review time. 

The last couple of bits were finished on these guys, still not found number 6 for this squad. 

I finished the Warrior Prime, I even did some wet blending on the wings, which looks better in photos than I can see on the mini.

The shields got finished for the mixed armour squad. 

I thought I'd get a close up of the old metal captain in Terminator Armour as I like it.

I've had this squad in bits for a year. I was less intimidatied by The Lion. The scabbards and shields are still left to do, but I do like how these came out overall. 

Lastly is the Sargent of the squad. This is more or less there now. 

Second Squad

 

The second squad got some progress on them, I'd bought the new colea greenshade for the capes as I've miss placed the one I have at home. There are bits left still to do, but I'm not really free till next week now to get them finished 

To match the first squad of these the Sgt has his tabard and cape in the crimson wash. The green highlights still need doing on this one.

Happy with how these are looking. 

They'll look great when they're finished. 

One Squad Done

 I didn't get the day I wanted yesterday. I covered a sleep shift, and then I ended up going for over an hour more which wasn't great, which had a knock on affect on my mood as I was in bed until lunch time in shut down mode. 

 

When I had pulled myself back together I went downstairs and finished off the shields on the squad 

I got the table out and the photo set up so had the second squad of Deathwing Knights ready to go, but I couldn't find the green wash yesterday so the robes and capes didn't get started, I didn't think to do the crimson robes on the Sgt of this squad. I'm supposed to finish at 5pm today so I can at least start on that today. 

Paniced A Bit

 I spent 2 hours looking for the original Saturnine Terminator I have, at least I tidyed up my bedroom a bit.

I'd reached the point where I was thinking I'd lost it somehow.

Or " Something old and something new" I might change the title later. 

Probably not. 

I got the old metal captain in Terminator Armour painted yesterday with the green highlights, the base does needs an agrax earthshade wash and a tidy up. 

The new Leviathan captain is nearly finished, the belt needs finishing and the hair and earphones and I need to recharge the battery in my headset which is the plan for when I get home Friday as I only have 1 of usb cables and that's in my work bag 

This squad is made up of random suits as I had the Tartarus spare and the 2 Cattaphrattii characters from 30k that I bought and started painting last year. I've got 10 shields so both this squad and the Cenobite squad can be run as Deathwing Knights. 

I also got the black templar contrast on 1 of the Cenobite Cattaphrattii. So much faffing it's going to get the armour done, then the loin cloth, cloak and hood, then spend what's left of that day finishing the first one off and hoping to get the details done on the other 4 as and when I can. 

The shields I'm planning two blocks of 5 with different rim colours tieing the 2 squads together, along with matching base rim. 
 

Progress Wednesday The 14th

I'm rather rusty on uploading photos still. I did the Combat Patrol Warrior Prime after I'd finished the squad this morning, but uploaded that photo in the wrong order... 

I started with the Warrior to make another grey scale nid, there is some wet blending on the wings. I can't actually see it when I look with my eyes but the camera caught it.

I'll put this in a draw and use as foil in the more action photos I try sometimes. 

  I'm still looking for a mini that's in stock that I can use to round the squad up to 6.

And after nearly a year sat in a bag doing nothing, I finally got the Cenobites together well the bodies 

Is It Real?

Those leaks. 

Well I'm certainly going halves on a box for the dread and the Terminators. 

I can't see myself using this guy in the way I'd sort of hoped to  so will just have to paint him bone and brass 

This makes sense if these guys are all packing heavy weapons to make them squads of 3, so that's 2 squads of these with a 3rd squad if/when the multi part kit is released. Just hope we aren't waiting for that as long as we have for the assault terminators... 

I wonder how big this guy is going to be? 

And of course they'll be this and probably one of the multi part kit when that gets released 

Monthly Vow.

 First one in nearly a year...

I've not bitten off more than I can chew... I had to much other stuff going on this morning that I didn't get the inner circle companions touched, which means they'll get finished in next months bow. 

The plan for Wednesday this week is assemble the remaining 5 30k cattaphrattii terminators with yesterday's Touring Cars on catch up TV, get the Companions finished and get that company champion painted black. If the champion is done with time to spare I'll start on the green highlights on him and the Terminator captain. Thursday is the grey blending on Warrior Prime with the last of Andor. Beyond that is hard to say as I've not done the rota yet but I do know time is going to be less as someone has left and we now need to cover a full time hours plus 4 sleeps a week. 

Review Time

I'd bought these off a mate last year and had left them in a box as the drive wasn't there. I do like the tiny little guys, and I remember being impressed by them when I bought Space Hulk, but now they look their age. It's going to be fun to put these put beside the Terminators that Valrak is sure are in the Heresy box to see how smol they are. 

Speaking of smol. When I came across the Deathwing expansion Librarian for £13 on ebay, I though "does the seller have brain damage?" quickly followed by checking my bank account and clicking buy. I dug through the combat patrol I'd got knowing I had the new Librarian in Terminator Armour there and got that together and painted alongside the old guy. 

I got all 3 of these built and base coated, okay the champion I was going to go bone with but then chose a different way. 

The captain needs something to stand on so I'm looking for guard /gene stealer cult to use for this. 

And lastly there's the Tartarus Sgt for the Space Hulk squad. The other bolter arm was for a different Tartarus Terminator who'd originally had the plasma blast gun the Sgt now has, in game terms it'll be a combine plasma or just straight up say storm bolter. 

This is so, so close to done, another month and I'm back to waiting for GW to release the assault terminators box to have them finished, who's wants to bet which comes first, the Heresy box or the Assault terminators?
