As I was in Manchester to get some paints and watch Guardians of the Galaxy vol2 on the I max at the Print works I thought I'd get a photo of the big guy, at a guess the rest of the window display has been cleared for 8th edition goodies.
About the one new thing I learned today was that the video game licences and their success have been what's paid for the return of the Specialist Games. So the more successful we make Blood Bowl the more resources that GW have to plow back into the next specialist game.
Also any talk of a take over you is properly going to be absolute bollocks as the gw profit margins aren't appealing to any potential vulture capitalist.
Painted these 2 tonight.
Excoriators not really came across these before.
Emperor’s Warbringers another chapter that I hadn't come across before but both are Sons of Dorn, not sure if I missed the ret con but a lot of the background to these Chapters that have them being Second Founding Chapters, I was aware that there were 3 Chapters that came from the Imperial Fist Legion, Fist themselves, BT and Crimson Fist as, being front line defenders of the palace they'd suffered significant amounts of casualties.
I started off with the Emperor’s Champion and added a Knight's sword.
Black paint job, with a gloss nuln oil wash and dry drush bone then white in the robes.
For tonight I'm planning on painting 2 more marines one for the Emperor’s Warbringers and the other for the Ex something or other.
Finished these guys last night.
Imperial Fist Veteran, should have given galdius to the Hammer Of Dorn.
Hammer of Dorn veteran.
Crimson Fist Veteran.
Celestial Lion Veteran.
Tired eyes and hands means the chapter badges aren't getting dine for a couple of days.
While some of you have been working/enjoying Salute, I've been working and painting, finally finished the Howling Griffins Stern Guard Squad. 4 days and I'm also too scared to try free handing the griffin.
Yesterday I'd done the yellow, so tonight I tackled the red.
Base of Wazdakka red and then nuln oil wash and a dry brush of Evil Sunz Scarlet later.
Learned the lesson of not going and doing free hand when my eyes don't want to stay open, so will come back to these later.
Welcome to the start of a new series here on the Warhammer Community site, where every day we’re going to tell you something you didn’t know about the new Warhammer 40,000. (There’s a new Warhammer 40,000 coming by the way – if you missed the memo, catch up here.)
Today, we look at the new galaxy map.
But you know the galaxy map right? Terra sort of in the middle-west, Eye of Terror to the north-west, Ultramar sort of south-east-ish…
This is the same galaxy, but it’s showing some wear and tear. A catastrophic warp storm looks to have rent the Imperium nearly in half. Even before the Fall of Cadia, the immaterium had been growing ever more turbulent. Travel and communication suffered increasing disturbances as the events of the Gathering Storm unfolded. It seems that eventually reality could take no more, and a titanic warp-rift tore across the galaxy from the Eye of Terror to the Hadex Anomaly on the Eastern Fringe. There will be more on this new interstellar feature in the coming days.
While Terra still stands at the heart of Segmentum Solar, and much of the galaxy will be familiar, there are also a few other new arrivals on the map. At a quick glance, you can see the Planet of the Sorcerers, an expanding Necron empire in the galactic east and new warp storms in every segmentum.
All of these developments set up some exciting narratives for the new edition of Warhammer 40,000.
We’ll be back tomorrow with something else you didn’t know from the far future.
Amazing Commissar Cos playing the drive me closer , I want to hit them with my sword meme.
Back to my stuff.
I'd forgotten to do the body, pack and head of this guy yesterday.
Started the bone on the bodies and arms and heads.
And then half yellow on all the bits.
I've worked on the weapons for the Honour Guard after I'd finished the painting.
Red leg, yellow leg.
And the 3 bodies for the extended Honour Guard, an Imperial Fist, a Crimson Fist and a Celestial Lion.
The Imperial Fist, happy with the yellow
And the 3 I've been working on overnight.
Howling Griffins bodies & heads, a Hammers of Dorn body & head, and a shed load of arms planned for tonight, must remember to bring the arms and pick up some glue.
For a laugh, can you spot Kharn the Betrayer?
Don't skip it. I'd started out tonight to just get the legs done for the Howling Griffins, but I managed to get the legs done for the Carmine Blades and the 4 extra Honour Guard I'm painting.
All legs got base coated, using Ushabati bone as a base for yellow on the Griffins, an Imperial Fist and a Celestial Lion, I'm also doing a Crimson Fist and a Troll of the Ultramarines, sorry a Hammer Of Dorn. I'm looking at an Emperor's Champion for a Black Templar.
I gave them all a wash as well before packing up for the night.
And now for something completely different, came across this on twitter and ran it through Prisma.
Next squad finished for the Victrix Guard Formation, this time round it's the Nemesis Chapter, one of the few Ultramarines Chapters that seems to have personality and specialise in Exterminartus actions.
Nice simple colour scheme, not as striking as the Mentors colours though.
Next up is Howling Griffins.
I like this idea, I might even expand the squad at some point to include other Sons Of Dorn. I started off with the idea of showing how Girlyman coming back is unifying the Astartes and what better way than having Girlyman's Herald travel with representatives from the other Legions.
The Honour Guard is made of Chapters that compete in the Feast Of Blades, I've used the Iron Knights as the Chapter Champion the Hammer is planned to be either a Thunder Hammer or Relic Blade, the Shadow Wolves Champion has a Relic Blade.
The Fists Exemplars Champion also has a Relic Blade. And Cato Sicarus comes as he is in the Codex.
I can see me adding some extra Marines to the Honour Guard to take it up to the max squad value, I'm already thinking of getting the Emperor’s Champion for this squad and with a few left overs from the planned squads I might just start that when done with the squads of Stern Guard and Vanguard Veterans.
This is a simple conversion, all I've done is to cut the chainsword off and replaced it with double falchions as a Relic Blade.
I've had to tweek the brightness of the photos as it's the usual grey murk in Lancashire today.
And yes I still use Prisma.
