Yule Time WIP

Yes, well, errr. Not much has been done on these 2 and just these 2, don't know what happened to me yesterday but I was that tired I wasn't even able to think straight for most of the day. So late on after sleeping, shopping and seeing my dad I got the hand on the Avatar washed with Nuln Oil and dry brushed with scarlet and I painted the legs, hands and head black on my Bane for the Harlequins Star Players. While out and about I picked up some broken slate on the street to use on bases in the future. Next up is to strip an old bolt thrower and clean it up for use in the Exodite Army and to paint the 2 old school Spirit Warrior headed metal Wraithlords for which I need another set of Eldar Heavy Weapons. I'm also thinking about casting some more of those heads as well to give them a unique, old school look, after all Exodites let the party early.

Hardly Working/Working Hard

So today I did my presentations for my NVQ level, one was about rotas and t'other was about Super Structures in Science Fiction, oh by the way I'm a bit of a geek if you haven't worked that out yet.
While I know a few things I asked for some help with things I missed in one of the groups on Facebook and got some good ideas thrown up, as well as a few people asking for notes, so I thought I'd add this post here as well.
I started off by talking about Star Trek, Star Wars and novels. From Star Trek I talked about The Dyson Sphere, I also did a minor piece  on Charles Dyson and his work on Project Orion, a plan by NASA to power rockets by dropping a nuke out of the back and riding the blast wave, the ships themselves where designed to be as well appointed as the most luxurious cruise ships. I then talked about the Death Star and some of the other big ships in Star Wars before covering novels, Larry Nivens Ring World series, Rama by Authur C Clarke, before moving onto games, Eve Online and Mass Effects Mass Relay as well as of course the Planet Killer, Blackstone Fortresses, Phallanx and The Rock. As I wasn't to fimillar with Mass Effect and Eve I skimmed the wikis for both of those

The Avatar Of Malals' Raging Excess

So after the expensive Saturday I got a lazy day on Sunday. I got the Avatar base coated with Ushabati Bone, washed it with Nuln Oil then heavily dry brushed it with Screaming (beige) Skull before going over it again with the base coat white. I then painted the hand red with Wazzdakka base, got to give that a Nuln Oil wash and a dry brush with the blood scarlet and a blood for the blood god wash. I did go over the other half black. I just need to give the eyes a coat of scarlet and I can call this one done.

Bit Expensive Day Yesterday

Last little bit started for the Harlequins Star Players, this one is based on Bane. Also, major heresy or rather whatever the Eldar word concept for heresy, cut the blade off the Avatar and magnetised the Sovnya on instead, just a little work to smooth off the green stuff. And yesterday went I went Christmas shopping, I wasn't the only one that had an expensive day yesterday.

Very Little Free Time

With working 6 days out of 7 for the second week in a row and working 98.5 hours out of 144 and sleeping 24 hours out of whats left this week all I've done this week is glue an arm into the Wrack and I glued 2 old paint pot lids onto the access points on the Rhino on the Titan Project to use as mounts for a couple of ball turrets. Plan on getting the Rota Cannon set to mount on these in pairs and the 5th will be chin mounted.

Magnetising The Metal Avatar

I won the old metal Avatar Of Khaine the other week. I was looking at this and trying to work out how to get together, from past experience glue is not great on it's own on bigger models. I have magnets in a pot, so plan A was to magnetise the arms to the body and torso to legs. Both arms are magnetised, I'm thinking of cutting the sword off and giving him a knife and what will look like a shimmer shield projector, the other arm is holding a sovnya or nagamaki made from a LotR Troll pointy stick, the blade is plasti card and green stuff. If I do cut the sword off, I'll make an Elven knife out of plasti card or maybe just swop the blade over so he has an intimidating blade.

Monthly Vow Time.

Little bit late to post this one but still gives a flavour of where I'm going this month.
Most of this month is going to be Harlequins, with 3 bikes for the 2 Company of The Lions Blades, with the other 3 bikes going to the Malal counts as Dæmons army as counts as Blood Crushers. The Avatar has been magnetised together and is going to be my counts as Keeper Of Secrets. The Jet Bikes are going to be for Team Freeze and Team Deathstrike, Freeze are white and blue, Deathstrike orange and black. The Death Jesters are just for fun really.
