Monthly Vow, 12th Of July To The 12th Of August

Plan A for next month, I have 10 metal scouts, 5 snipers, 5 pistol and knives, and 10 plastic scouts, there's the 2nd heavily converted Dreadnought and at least 2 Land Speeders depending on if my Conquest buyer wants one or not, there's the Page class heavy weapons as I'm buying a 2nd heavy weapons pack and there'll be some bikes depending on date.

Review Time

I started by messing around with the old mk2 Predator turret for a proposed project to use the Blight Hauler as the base for a couple of tanks.

my buyer is very happy with this, I just hope I get to see it painted.

The Harry Potter Unicorn got done. And no I'm not getting the re release that is coming out next month.

I also got the dynamic Dumbledor painted, I am rather pleased with how this one came out, I downloaded the first Dumbledor to make sure the 2 looked the same, after watching the film over the last weekend, I noticed I've done the hands wrong, it's the wand hand that's the injured one.

I made a start on the last of my Rhinos, this one I hoped to be able to get it to cover all the bases with a Predator, Vindicator, Whirlwind and Razorback versions. The Predator has an autocannon and I used the last of the Space Crusade tarantula las cannons as the las version, that's also the Razorback las cannon option.

I've used the Page class heavy weapons pack missile launcher as the bases for a Whirlwind and raided the Baneblade sprue for a couple of cannons I could use for Vindicators.

I cracked on with the Shadowspire box and finished the Suppressors and Infiltrators

Before getting the Rhinos out and finding one of the Baneblade bits I could use for the Vindicator cannon.

Then I got on with the second half of the Infiltrators squad.

There was another Primaris Captain that got done.

I then worked out how to mount the options for the razorback weapons on the turret.

I also uses some of the las cannons to give me the option of a Terminus Ultra version on my Mk1 Spartan,I don't have a photo yet of all options but I can field that one as a standard Land Raider, Redeemer and now the Terminus Ultra.

And lastly I started working on another Death Guard dread.

I'm now waiting for a dreadnought ccw so I can progress with it.

Dread Tober Nailed Down

As I've said elsewhere I'm pitching in for Dread Tober this year and have a rough plan, that I've spent the night working out and trying to spend as little cash as possible. Everything listed is already in my house so I don't have to buy it in bar the Word Bearers dread, that one I'm watching something on ebay but if I don't get that I've got one at home I can use.

Core Goals

Redemptor Calgar, Contemptor Björn, White Scar Dreadnought from the Björn Kit, Dark Angel mk4 Mortis and a Salamander Dreadnought from an Ironclad from the Hounds or possibly Sister Stern

Stretch Goal

metal venerable dreadnought for the Ultramarines, metal venerable dreadnought for the Emperor’s Children and either a Forge World resin or an old metal dread for the Word Bearers.

Dream Goal

old metal standard dread, plastic standard and a plastic Venerable dreadnought for Alpha Legion, Raven Guard and Night Lords

Blue Sky Goal

old Blackreach dread for the Iron Hands and a potential a hybrid dread knight Redemptor if the Calgar plan works out.

With the plan roughed up and written in pencil at least, would it be considered cheating if I made a start on some of these conversions before the start of Dread Tober or is that considered cheating?

More Big Guns

Made sure it's an easy run into the end of the month, with just razorback weapons to get done and a couple of bits on the Mk1 Spartan. I am letting the dreadnaught weapons slide with the caveat being I'm buying another pack this week so it's more to get them all in and painted the same. Also painted the las cannons for the Terminus Ultra conversion tonight and some details as well.

07/07/19 Weekend WIPs

I think I'm sort of done on my monthly vow this week, I know I said the page class weapons would be painted this month but as I'm ordering another set next week I'll put them all together and paint them all next month (I'll check later, after I've posted this so could be massive wrong), so have what could be considered a free hand until Friday. So this weekend, after finding a regular buyer for Death Guard Conquest stuff I had some bits being unused and a Dreadnought that had suffered a pair of broken ankles on its way to me. I started by putting the dread back on its feet and using one of the hacked up assault cannon arms to mount a pair of what I'm saying are autocannons on it, I've hacked them up and filed them down so they look okay .

I've also gone through 3 different fronts so far and I'm waiting for the Blight Drone sprue before I move ahead with this one, I've also bought a dreadnought ccw arm that's going to be hit hard with the bits box.

As well as adding the Terminator cloak to the back of the power pack.

Once I couldn't get more done I dug out The Hounds Razorback for its spare turret and the las cannons from lots of different places to see how my Mk1 Spartan would look as the Terminus Ultra version.

To finish that off I need to source a couple of ball bearings to use as gimbal mounts for the upper las cannons.

A Little Something For Dread Tober

Having a bits and bobs night today, I've got some green stuff curing on the multi purpose Rhino turret for some magnets, there's a pair of heavy bolters, a pair of las cannons, and a couple of assault cannon barrel assemblis for the various razorback options, but the first thing up is the fist for the Contemptor Björn

Having chopped up a couple of dreadnought assault cannon arms I struggled with how to fit them to the turret, I've finessed a couple of small magnets on the front on either side of the autocannon mount and then worked the magnets so the barrels look okay.

The heavy bolters from the sponsons sprue have had a 5mmx1mm magnet fitted and the ammo boxes on the sides of the turret have a magnet as well. Once cured I'll work on the bolters so they fit neatly on the sides.

The last one is the las cannons, but I'm not too sure about this one for the razorback, I think I'll keep the twin tarantula las cannons.

The Other Half Of The Squad

Got the second half of the Infiltrators finished tonight, still a nice kit to put together and a tad upset I'm done until the multi part kits come out.
