The Storm Lord, First Commander of the Legions Reconnaissance Wing

This was fun to do, annoying to wait for tea bits but good fun to make and paint.

I started off with a Bolt Action WWI Renault tank, in the above photo you can see the very big difference between true scale 28mm and heroic 28mm tanks. It's an extremely detailed kit but the actual track fittings are a bit fine.

This was the point I realised it need to look wider at the bottom. I ordered some 5mmx3mm magnets to add some space.

I also added a 5mmx1mm magnet in the recess and cut the lug off under the turret and fitted a second 5mmx1mm there.

Once the 5x3's arrived, on the same day as the Contemptor, which gave me the assault cannon I was after, before I put the cannon together I cut the cannon off and fitted a 5mmx1mm magnet in the recess and one on the cannon itself and some green stuff to fill that joint out, you wouldn't notice without getting hold of the arm itself.
On the tracks I cut of the lugs on the back of the tracks and fitted a magnet there and trimmed bits off the tank to fit the magnets snuggly to the hull.

This was the second time of fitting, the first time the left side track was off slightly so I had to do it again.

At this point it was early morning and my eyes were tired so I left painting until after I got some sleep.

The finished version.

Vindicators

2 of 3 Vindicators for my second Hammer Of Caliban formation, along with a Land Raider Crusader. I plan to buy the Laser Vindicator when I get down to Warhammer World in February next year and thus finish off this formation.

The Mk 1 Predator converted to have all weapon options for a Predator and Deimos pattern.

Magna melta made from a Space Crusade dread multi melta and a couple of other melta guns.

Plasma cannon, formerly from a Contemptor dread.

Conversion Beamer from the Space Crusade dreadnought.

Flame storm cannon.

And the badge for this Hammer Of Caliban formation, a Lance.

Forge World Bulletin 21/11/16

This juggernaut of iron and firepower is the Acastus Knight Porphyrion, and he’ll be striding his way across the war zones of the far future very soon.

While we’ve take this handsome fellow to shows in the past, we realised we’d never given him a proper show on the Forge World bulletin, so it’s high time that was put right.

As you can see, he is considerably stockier and bulkier than the existing Knight classes. This guy will not be running at enemy formations attempting to grind them to bloody slurry with a giant chainsword.

Instead, the Acastus Knight is equipped with firepower to rival a small titan. With its two twin-linked Magna-lascannons, the Acastus stands ready to obliterate any armoured foe, while an Ironstorm battery of missiles allow it to simultaneously blast infantry to oblivion.

And there are a couple of autocannons on there too… just to be sure.
knight-2 knight-3

What a beast!

The Acastus Knight Porphyrion will be available to order very soon.

For now, you can check out his little brothers here.

Salt To Taste

This has come up today on Facebook from various sources and various groups.

Lazy Night

Took it easy tonight, just sprayed the weapon options for the Mk1 pred black and then primed the Renault tank, before I hacked off the lug under the turret and fitted a magnet in the recess and 1 under the turret.
Just waiting on some thicker 5mm magnets to fit the tracks onto the sides.

Plan A is find some Imperial iconography to fit to the tank as well.

Big Guns

Last night I played around with the Mk1 turret and the spare guns I dug out, there is a Plasma Cannon, and a Heavy Conversion Beamer for one lot of options.

And a multi melta that I've got some work to do on, I'll add a couple of melta as the option for this is a magma melta and flame storm cannon.

And last of the options the orginal auto cannon and the twin linked las cannons.

Options

The Mk1 Predator I've ran throw the chop shop just had it's options expanded, currently it has twin linked las cannons and autocannon, but I have a spare Contemptor plasma cannon knocking about at home that I can attempt to fit to the this turret, I'm just wondering what other weapon options the Deimos pattern Predator can take so I can see if I can get the full range of guns. . .

Predators For The Knights of Blood

I got the 2 Predators out the other day and started painting up the twin linked las cannon one as I was moving that one over to the Knights of Blood from The Lion's Blades.

I gave some panels and the turret a base of Wazdakka red.

Then went over that with a dry brush of Evil Sunz Scarlet.

I was trying to find a mythical animal that breathed fire and could only really think of dragons, so a little research and I decided to go with a blue dragon for the las cannon pred as that breathes lightning, and a bronze dragon for the Baal Predator as that breathes fire, for the autocannon version I think I'll go with either green or black as it will stand out from the red.

I also researched the various cavalry roles, if I get any more Baal Predators they will go with a Destrier title, any more las cannons will be lancers and autocannons will be hussars. The Codex anti air tanks, if I get them, will be Dragoons.
So the twin linked las cannon Predator is currently called Angel's Lance and the Baal Predator is now Blazing Destrier.

DEVASTATING DEREDEO’S

If you were at the Warhammer 40,000 Open Days, you might have seen a new weapons system coming soon for the Deredeo pattern Dreadnought. Already blessed with some pretty powerful guns, this new Lascannon battery adds some vehicle-obliterating firepower to the Deredo’s armoury, take a look…

You may have seen on the Forge World Facebook page that the Warhammer Community is coming soon. There’ll be more on this later this week, but you’ll soon have a new destination for all of your Forge World news!

Come back later this week for more news!

Warming Up

When I'd dug out the Dreadnought Army, I found the standard on the Herald had broken just above hand and it's engine pack had broken off, so I firstly glued the engine pack back on and then glued one of the 5mmx1mm magnets to the top of the Dread and a 2x1 on the banner pole and reattached one of the shin guards as well that had come off.

Monthly Vow, 12th Of November To The 12th Of December

I took a few days off from the hobby this month after I decided to bump the tanks to next month, I am also waiting for bits to finish off a the Optimus Class Librarian Dreadnought (a Contemptor power fist), and a Heresy inducing Ravenwing dread (BaC Kheres assault cannon and a Bolt Action WWI Renault tank), will get to the bank tomorrow and see about ordering the tank, even though pay day is actually on Monday... Just waiting for a mate of mine who was down at Warhammer World over the weekend to get those bits over to me.
Plan A; Optimus Class Librarian Dreadnought, Ravenwing tracked dread, Mk1 Predator, Vindicator and Whirlwind for The Lion's Blades and a Mk2 Predator for The Knights of Blood, need to do a good job on the Mk1 as I've already earned 6 points on my Oldhammer licence for cutting the autocannon off and magnetiseing it so I can swop out the autocannon and twin-linked lascannon.
Review time;
Well bumped the tanks and I'm waiting for some bits to finish off the Dread, but I did get all the Marines that I planned to do, done.

I started off with the Vanguard Veterans Squad, I later did the squad markings again to match the other assault squads and re based them as well on 32 mm bases.

I finally found the head I was looking for for my counts as Azrael and a spare missile launcher marine for The Lion's Blades.

I did a little bit on these 3 tanks, the Vindicator got the dozer blade magnetised, the Whirlwind got sprayed black and the Predator earned me those 6 points.

The 10 bolter marines for the Devastater Squads.

The 2 Assault squads along with the favourite marine in this army.

And the Optimus Class Librarian Dreadnought.
