Sliding this one in under the 500 bar. I present today Team Freeze and Team Deathstrike, the pilots for my Harlequin Army. More units for both teams include jet bikes, Venoms, with 1 more Razorwing, note to self; add orange to current Razorwing, and of course a Void Raven. Next post will show case this army.
I had painted this one up a few days ago and was never happy with it, while I had all the painted Harlequins out I took the chance to touch this one up, both the driver and gunner are from Team Black and Orange jet bikes so I chose to paint some black on it as well, it already looks better and I'm more happy with it than I was before. The pilot on this one, and the blue one need painting still and the gunners from the blue and orange and white and red still need painting yet. When I post up the Carnival Under The Light Of The Blood Red Moon all skimmers will be named, I spent a happy hour going over the list of Culture Ship Names from the Iain M Banks books for them.
While I was digging in The Lion's Blades armour box to swop some bikes around, won 3 Ravenwing bikes on Ebay last week, I brought the Land Raiders downstairs so I could paint the sword on the Crusader. Most of the time I spent working on the Harlequins which are nearly done now, just need to pad out the Jet Bikes and get a Void Raven and 3 more Venoms to finish it off for now...
Yeah I'm on holiday! I'm currently tucked up in bed writing this one.
So yesterday I bashed out 10 more Harlequins with a green and white scheme and polished off another Raider. I also started painting the last Raider yellow and 5 more 'quins got a white base coat, these are getting blue bits to match one squad of Jet Bikes, the other 5 are going to be black and orange to match the other Jet Bike squad and both squads are getting a Venom to match them. So now I just need to buy 3 Venoms, a Void Raven and a number of Jet Bikes, really have to get them out and see how many I need to max out my squads. I also need 3/5 more for the Dæmon Army, I was going to make them all Marines that had died at Istvann III, brought back in the service of Malal but I had an Incubus spare I'm painting as my Herald of Slannesh, an Avatar of Khaine on watch on ebay that I'll have been bested in combat by a greater Dæmon, when the Dæmon tried to get into the body the minds fused and it was forever changed. Herald of Nurgel I'm thinking a Garo lookalike and Khorne may just get the chain weapons I had on the Lone Wolf I did ages ago if I still have those arms knocking around.
Was out and about in Manchester today, first stop was Fanboy 3. I was looking for a B'Rell, but that is out later this week. In the window was the big DS9. Yes I did very nearly buy it and if it hadn't been this close to Christmas I may just have. It does look very pretty.
So with a 10am-10pm day on Monday and starting work at 3pm Tuesday and only getting out at 10am Friday morning, I've only had a day to do anything so far this week but what a busy day. The Rangers are being split between 2 squads, one with a sephia wash and the other with the oxide wash, both got a white dry brush over the wash as well, more may be added at a later date.
The Death Jester is going to be dual role for now, Gunner on the Raider and in the Troupe as well, that one is up next.
The Raider I'd primed already and added a coat of Ushsbati Bone to the places I was doing orange, this one is inspired by the Gulf Racing colours, I was going to do Martini racing but I felt 3 white base raiders was a bit much. I then painted the orange and lastly added some blue but by that time it was late and I was a bit drunk.
While I was at work the Incubi I'd won on ebay arrived, I got 4 of which 3 are going with my counts as Solitaire in a Venom and the last one is going into the Malal Dæmon Army as a Herald of Slannesh, will be painting that one when I get the rest if this months stuff painted.
Yeah working harder not smarter this week so next to no time to hobby.
All that's been done is 2 Rangers to test colours for a wintery/ghostly looking Ranger force for my exodite army. I painted both with Ushabati Bone then gave one a Sephia wash and the other an oxide wash, I then dry brushed both with white. I think I'm going to go with the Oxide wash on this squad. When I do Storm Guardians and Defenders I'm thinking one lot painted browns and yellows for an autumnal feel and one lot browns and greens for a spring feel. Might mix the DE Wytches with the big bladed Wood Elves for Storm Guardians, might just throw the Raiders in with this lot for transpots untill I can fork out for Wave Serpents for them.
