Forge World Pre-Orders

escription

The Sokar pattern Stormbird is a dedicated attack lander. It has served as a high-durability orbital assault craft, a mobile bastion and firebase which could land a Space Marine strike force and withstand heavy ground fire while its cargo or troops and war machines disembarked to press the attack. One of the later patterns developed, the Sokar was the design precursor to the smaller Thunderhawk Gunship.

The Stormbird’s standard armament is four turret-mounted twin linked lascannon, three twin-linked heavy bolters, and a complement of six dreadstrike missiles. It is also equipped with particularly dense composite armour plating, and is further protected by a series of void shield generators which it can extend to protect disembarking troops and war machines.

Its cavernous transport bays can hold 50 fully armed Space Marines. Alternatively it can carry up to 5 Dreadnoughts, including the mighty Leviathan; Jump-pack equipped infantry; Rapier batteries; bikes; jetbikes; a Rhino armoured transport; or a mixed force of all of the above.

The Sokar pattern Stormbird is the largest Imperial aircraft we have produced. Weighing 6 kg and measuring over half a meter from nose to tail, it's so large, a Deimos pattern Rhino can be loaded inside it and disembark by the rear hatch. Its interior includes extensively detailed transport bays and cockpit, and six Space Marine crew: two pilots and four turret gunners. Optional quad heavy bolters and twin-linked lascannon to be mounted on Stormbird’s four ball-turrets are included.

Rules for using the Sokar pattern Stormbird in Horus Heresy games can be found in The Horus Heresy Legiones Astartes: Age of Darkness Army List. Rules for using the Sokar pattern Stormbird in standard games of Warhammer 40,000 can be downloaded from the rules tab on this page.

This huge, multi-part resin kit builds one complete Sokar pattern Stormbird.

Winter Is Coming

On my day off, apart from being swamped by cats, I've also brought winter on...

I mixed up some pva and white paint and applied it to the bases before dunking it in the snow powder.

I did all of the army of Telvig and while they were out I painted the base sides as well on the 3 Guardian squads and the 3 Dire Avenger squads, one in black, one in red and one in blue, I did this just to make spotting each unit easier.

FROM THE IRON HILLS TO THE FORGE WORLD STUDIO

A few weeks ago in this bulletin, Adam Troke spoke about what’s coming up from Forge World for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey™ Strategy Battle Game. This week in the Forge World studio I got my first look at Dain Ironfoot: Lord of the Iron Hills. Take a look…

You might have seen Luke’s Tau Barracuda AX-5-2 in the Forge Worlds Bulleting last week. Chris Drew from the Forge World Studio has painted up his own Barracuda with a camouflage scheme to rival Luke’s.

That’s all from me for now. Make sure you check back soon for more from the Forge World Studio.

The Dreadnought Collection

At last, I've actually finished, as much as I can, both the Dreadnought Army and my collection.

The Chaos Family Tree, The Knights of Blood, Telvig and The Lion's Blades Dreads / 1st Legion Scholia Detachment.

I am after another one of these, which I will always say is the best version of the Dreadnought family.

The 1st Legion Scholia Detachment.

Closer view of the Knights of Blood and Chaos Family Tree.

The Oldhammer dreads for Telvig.

And the Oldhammer metal Chaos Dreads.

Objective Marker

Replacement 1pt objective marker for The Lion's Blades. In keeping with the theme of hunting the enemies of The Emperor. 2 through 4 are those marks of armour, 5 pt is a prototype Terminator and 6 is Lord Cypher. So the 1 point is now a Pan Pacific Techno Barbarian

Space Wolf Dreadnought

The last Dreadnought for The 1st Legion Scholia Detachment has been finished!

I sprayed it black yesterday, it turns out I had also binned the base when I threw out the newspaper I'd sprayed it on.

I mixed up 3 parts of Fang Grey to 1 part of Scar White to get a unique grey, I also added 2 of the drop pod door icons to the Dread.

And after looking up pre Heresy Space Wolves I painted up the wolf head I red.

Just waiting for the washes to dry to give it a final dry drush on the base and some brass on the Eagle on the front.

Got Them All Part 2; Dreadnoughts

Got it!

This is the last Imperial Dreadnought that I was missing.
I ran a pole on Facebook asking which Legion to paint this one for and the winning result was 12 votes to Space Wolves over 7 for the Iron Warriors.
So yeah puppy love time for this Dread.

Already given it a bath and stripped it off, the orginal owner had used a bucket full of glue and hadn't painted inside the arms, if he'd done that I might have given this a nuln oil wash and touch up to see how it looked, but as it wasn't I'm going full on with this.

I have long shifts at work, currently on my 3rd 14 hour shift and I have a 12 hour day shift tomorrow, so the only way to really stay in touch with family and friends is usually facebook. Today I was browsing the news feed and this photo came up

Not sure about the show never heard anything about it but I'm fairly sure that that is a plasma pistol, I'd recommend this as inspiration for on source lighting next time.

Hardcore Henry

Okay just watched this film

It's all shot in the first person perspective and is really not safe for work and it's also a good job that transit vans are rather common as they get through a goodly number of them. Yes it is really worth a watch as long as you can handle the blood and violence.

And it's Captain America Civil War for tomorrow night.

Hooray! Finished 2 Thing In One Buy.

I've just bought the last Dreadnought that I'm missing from both my collection and the Dreadnought Army

So I'm thinking of just leaving this and putting it in the army as is.
So all that's left to get to complete the Dread collection is Forge World Deredo and Leviathan classes.

Monthly Vow 12th Of September To The 12th Of October

Woops I completely missed the basing mission I should have been... So that gets bumped to this month, I'm also looking at one "new" dread, the 2nd ed metal Caseterferrum with Assault Cannon to finish both the Dreadnought 30K army and my GW Dreadnought collection, all that's left are the finecast version of Bjórn, the FW Eddy and Livvi and any other new ones that get made. I need paints as well. So beyond those 2 I may pick up another of the Venerable metal Caseterferrum dreads for the Knights of Blood and give it a more tribal paint job for the Codex side of the army, so the flyers and the Baal Predator will get some tribal stuff as well and I may get some more of the marines for this army done. I also plan to buy Hardcore Henry and Captain America Civil War to watch and cats to sort out.
So review time.

I pulled one of the Death Company dreads out and painted it up for the World Eaters for the Dreadnought Army

I got the Deathwatch dread, without the upgrade sprue, and I painted it for the Blood Angel Legion.

To finish that Talon I put the Bjórn in with them.

The medic arrived and got painted.

The objective markers and the officers got shiny new 32mm bases.

I reassigned this for the Dreadnought Army, it's now an an Imperial Fist Legion Dreadnought and I swopped out the multi melta for a Las Cannon.

And put the multi melta on the Ironclad that I'd painted up for the Iron Warriors Legion.

I got this cheap so replaced the Librarian dreadnought.

Before getting the Land Speeder Storm painted up for the Knights of Blood.

Squeezed a scout in as well last night for The Lion's Blades to replace a missing sniper.

And finishing off the Vorax.
