Bit Of A Palette Cleanser

Bit of a palette cleanser, I had intended to use this as a base for the Typhus Contemptor but it looks to nice to do that with. Out the back was the best light at the time I took the first lot of photos.

Daemons!

This is my Daemon Princess for my Black Sisters Army. I know she is rather small, see the bottom photo, but I'm thinking more of grace and lithe rather than rip your head off and suck out your soul.

Below you can see all 4 of my Daemon Princes. The top left is my XIX Daemon Prince, nothing done to this mini apart from paint and stick it on a turret from a tank kit, the mini itself is The Horned One from Slaine The Barbarian from the good old days of 2000AD, below that is the Daemon Princess which is just a straight paint job of Hasslefree Miniatures Siouxsie (HF4006) in 40mm scale. Next is my Daemon Prince Sanguinor/Asteroth for my Knights of Blood and lastly, but by no means leastly, is the Monster Conversion for my Iron Warriors, built from a knock He-man action figure, and is one day going to be replaced possibly with the Chaos Decimator from Forge World.

Daemon Princes and A Daemon Princess

Well I've got money coming in now, so I'm looking at getting each of my Chaos armies a Deamon Prince. The XIX already have a metal Daemon Prince made, untouched, from The Horned One from Slaine the Barbarian.

My Iron Warriors have the converted He-man figure, to be added to with something later. Long term plan is a Contemptor Daemon Prince and a Dreadknight Daemon Prince Conversion

The Knights are getting a modern Spartan conversion, a Contemptor and I think I'm going to try to use the plastic Deamon Prince to make something that looks like the Sanguinior... A brazen angel if you will.

As to the Black Sisters I feel that I may have to go outside of Games Workshop, as they don't have many large scale female for 40k. Thinking of either of these 2. I will of course be buying feathered wings to go on these guys, cos even Fallen Angels started out as Angels and birds and bats are 2 different animals.

Just realised that this leaves me with Gadens Androids and Skittarii without a Daemon Princeling... Maybe I'll have to look to the Tomb Kings for something big or look around for a big Spider Mech..

Finecast Conversion

This is, again, my Iron Warriors Sorcerer, just a slightly better picture this time. I'm going to enter him into the Preston Games Workshop monthly contest which is this month Necron modles, even though he is a Chaos Marine. EDIT- this mini is now in the display case in the Preston shop, waiting for the contest this weekend, the 26th/27th Nov. Better photos should be going up on the store page either today or tomorrow, i'll borrow from there and post again with how well I've done.

The Finished Job

Top picture is the seperate parts of the mini ready to be painted .The 2nd pic shows the sword arm, the bionics on the head and cabling on the plasma pistol. Also the jump pack is visible in this one, you can't really see the flamer arm, sorry. I've since put him on a cavalry base alongside his fimilar.

Finecast Conversion

These past couple of weeks I've been working hard so haven't had the time to post that I wish I had (still don't have interweb at home yet) but I have had some time to play around with this Cryptek mini and have a bash at turning him into an Iron Warrior Sorcerer with the Wind of Chaos and a Fimilar with Doom Bolt.

Top Photo
First off I dug out the Kriss Empire Great Sword to use as his Force weapon, then I added a plasma pistol to the same hand, I'd tried it on the head but with the cowling around there it didn't want to fit without massive work on it.
2nd Photo
I them spent a long time with a Mutant arm, hollowing out the 'hand' so that one of the spare flamers from my Contemptor would fit in it. I cut that off at the elbow, and cut down the Cryptek arm to the same point as well and added the fuel tank to the forearm

3rd Photo
The Chaos Warrior head with Greenstuffed Cybernetics. The self built jump pack. I'd ordered a set of jump packs from GW Mail Order years ago now and got through the post 4 full kits on the spur and half a jump pack, this half has been knocking around my bits box for all that time , so I found a heavy looking power pack, this one is from the Khorne Berzerkers box, cut it down and added the worked on thruster and air intake and a fair amount of Green Stuff. The body is a basic Cryptek, with only the neck filed out the Necron symbols covered over/filed off and the left arm cut off at the elbow.

4th Photo
All the bits. I've since a single smoke launcher to the plasma pistol, using it as a marker light sight and added extra green stuff 'wires' to it as well. On the other hand I've added some mechandrite type worms to it.

His story is he was a major War Smith who when exposed to the warping powers of Chaos cut off the mutated extremites, this has become something of a psycosis with him and he is now more machine than man. He plays down his Sorcererous powers as tempremental weapons systems.

My next buy for this guy is a small micro machine toy to mount the 3 bolters for his Doombolt on, I changed plans on this one and put 3 bolters together, but with 6th edition and random powers this doesn't quite work any more.

Slow Down and Project Work

As I've said I've started work again recently and so I find myself with a lot less time to do stuff, as I'm at work silly hours right now.

My current project at home is a Sorcerer for my Iron Warriors, but he doesn't think he's a magic user he thinks he's a Master Tech. For this modle I've alread got arms and a head converted already, photos will be up when I get some more internet on my phone next week. One arm has a built in flamer, a spare from my Contemptor Dread. This arm is made from a Possesed claw, with the clamp bit cut and filed out and the flamer inserted into the hollow with the tank under the forearm. The other arm is still under work and may well end up being swopped over for the arm of the body modle I'm going to use, but it will have a Fantasy Empire Kriss Great Sword as his Force Weapon. The head is a Tech Marine one I've dug up from my club bits box with a mass of bionics on one side and I've added a Plasma Pistol to the other, i'm also giving this guy a jump pack that I'm better off showing than discribing. The doner body for this is going to be the Necron Cryptek with a bit of work I think I can pull this one off. The idea being as parts of the Sorcerer mutate he cuts them off and becomes more and more machine than Marine.

Colours.

Well here I am after a big weekend for the Necron players with a random post of my own about colour schemes.
When I started back in 40K a couple of years ago I wanted a scheme that was easy to paint and look good, this became the basic colours for the XIX Chpater, as I got better at painting again I got better I expanded on what I could do and tried different things and have ended up with a, what I think, is a good scheme but allows a lot of variation to be done. As I went on my next project was a Daemon Hunter Force, but when the new Codex came out this was ditched and the models reassigned to variuous new projects, some went into the XIX as the Assault Troopers and others became the back bone of my Iron Warriors and Knights of Blood. The Terminators from my Daemon Hunters where kind of left without a home till I started thinking of doing a Corrupted Sisters of Battle Army, but I had to wait till the Dark Eldar Wytches came out till I could get teh heads that I wanted to give them the right look. The colour of the Lady stayed the same from minute one, but I did end up repainting the whole lot of them black at one point before I changed my mind and went with the yellow with a purple wash over it. The next 2 projects came along at the same time as a result of the re-shuffle I'd had when the Daemon Hunter Codex came out and freed up somewhere around 80 miniatures, I was rather godsmacked by how many I actually had and split them right down the middle, with the more dynamic stances going into the Knights of Blood, the Furioso Librarian Dreadnought is shown below and the static botler across the chest persent arms stance being used in the Iron Warriors. There wasn't a lot of variation allowed in the colour schemes of htese 2 armies but as my skills heve progressed I feel, oddly, better able to go and make a job of the limited palette allowed by these 2 'named' units. Once again here is my Contemptor Class Dreadnought. When I'm getting more money in I will be buying more of these. And lastly we have Gadans Skittarii, this will be split into 2 forces, one of Androids and one Skittarii which will be made from a mix of Catachan, Zombies and any Necron spare limbs I get from my next project which will be Gadens Android Force. For the Skittarii I could only go with one colour for the Mechanised Infantry really. I did a few trail colours and the combined platoon is yellow jacket under blue armour with any colour helmet, boots and pants, as I delieve in making it look like this force is picking up bits and pieces along the way to replace worn out and damaged kit. I may just change the jacket colour yet to match the Mechanised Infantry. The Mechanised Infantry are being painted up with, and if you know me you'll understand this, brown coats. I couldn't in all good faith go with any other choice for these guys.
The Androids have thier own colours of metalic and mechrite red shoulder plates. With the newer Necron kits coming out more of the may need a repaint to bring them in line with what the others are.

Big, expensive, Idea

Being sat at home all the time is not doing me any favours...

I was sat around the other day thinking of where to go with my Iron Warriors, and looking into the background of them in the Index Astarte's and how they where Siege Specialist, and what with my idea for them to be based on the Blood Angel Codex I've progressed plan into Apocalypse formations now.

FORMATION- 1 Contemptor with Heavy Gravaton Beamer and 2 Havoc squads
1 Contemptor with Close Combat Weapons 2 Assault Squads
1 Contemptor with Close Combat Weapons 2 Assault Squads

The plan would be that the Ranged Formation sits back and blows holes into the armour/ bunkers with their ranged weapons and then the Close Quarters Formations move up, the assault squads moving the same distance as the Contemptor to get at what remains of the armour/ bunker and who ever was inside. May just give the ranged Contemptor the Cyclone Missile Launcher as well for more punch...

Of course to make this I'd go more with Forge World models, 1 of the Mk5 armour with jump packs and 3 of the Mk2 with jump packs and mix them up a touch. but of course this is not going to be cheap...

Iron Warriors.

These 2 photos show my current painted strenght of my Iron Warriors Warband The top photo shows my Iron Warrior Lord at the top left, one Havoc Squad down the left and the 4 troop choices. The Havoc squad are all Space Crusade Chaos Marines. And the bottom photo shows my Terminators, my other Havoc squad with Auto Cannons, my Contemptor and my Daemon Prince.

Finished Daemon Prince

This is my completed Daemon Prince. As you can see I've altered it a lot from it's origins as a knock off He-Man figure, the chest plates are spares from the Venerable Dreadnought kit and extra armour from the rhinos, the shield is from a Chaos Warrior, I think. The leg plates are a mix of shields and dreadnought plates, and the arm shield is from, again, the Chaos Warriors. The Hammer is made from green stuff, an axle from a lego technic kit and 3/4 of a melta gun. The hand weapon is made from a cut off chaos chain fist and 3 other chain swords, cut off and green stuffed onto the hand. The injectors in the back are loose misslies from the Tactial Squad box set and the cabling is from an old USB cable I had knocking about and an old mileomiter from a push bike that I'd taken to bits and rebuilt a while ago that got pinched and then returned. I've painted the hammers holster and strap in that lurid colour to give the idea that it is actually daemon hide, and the shoulder plate is made from the Pink Horrors face.

Contempter Ideas

These 2 photos arwe the result of a conversation I had last night on face book about converting the Contempter into a breaching/ Ironclad type of dread. I wish I had a drill bit small enough to fit in the power fist recess but the ones in my tool box are just too damn big for that. The top photo is of a screw and the bottom photo is of a centre punch

WIP Daemon Prince

Here we have my work in progress daemon Prince for the Iron Warriors. I've added some more of the Dreadnought plating to the chest and am adding some shields I've got in my bits box to the legs and arms as extra armour bolted onto the body. The one on the shoulder does have a face mask on it and I am going to use this as it's legion badge. I've pretty much used up all of the extra plates that came with the Venerable Dreadnought

And on a side note for the first time I've had over 700 page views in one month!

Daemon Prince

So my quest for a large cyber-construct continues slowly, I'm currently building a temporary model from a, I think, knock off He-Man type action figure. I've cut the legs off and glued them back on, and cut off below the knees and reacted so as to loose the squatting on the toilet pose most of the figures come with. I've also cut one arm off at teh elbow and replaced it with the other part of the pen barrel that made the Baneswords cannon although on the proper model I'll be trying to make a 3 barreled cannon as Doom Bolt is an Assault 3 shooting attack. For close combat I've started to make a big war hammer for this to be armed with. I've got plenty of work to go on this model and will be busy with it all week. Paint job is going to be really easy, black gloss over everything, then give it a dry brush with bolt gun metal and tin bits.

Daemon Prince

My orginal plan for my Daemon Prince was going ot be a conversion of the Dreadknight, the old Iron Warriors Lord had killed one in combat and taken the suit as his own and when he accended to Daemonhood his form assumed that of the suit. But my mate was taking to me the other night about how good a model the Contemptor is and had I not had thoughts of turning that into a Daemon Prince. Thanks Julian. I currnetly can't afford one let alone the other but it has got me thinking, damn it, about making my Iron Warriors Daemon Prince out of a Contemptor instead of the Dreadknight. My plan is to get a 2nd Contemptor and find some wings and fit it with the vibro looking cannon that is cominng and a power fist with a big hammer type close combat weapon.

Finished Contemptor Edited

This shows my kit all cut out and unassembled, with the dry brushing done. The second photo is the armless point. Yes i did post this just to make that joke... I'll get my coat. The third image is almost finised point, I just needed to go and paint over the few areas that the bluetac had taken the paint The last photo is the fully finished version of my Iron Warriors Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought. As you can see I've added 2 twin linked bolters with over the top mags, amde from Ork Shooters, to the outside of the 'hands' as a Legion like the Iron Warriors would go for ease of repair rather than looks, as if something went wrong with the twin linked bolters in the power fists the whole hands would have to be dismantled to get at it to repair it. This way it can be taken off and repaired, well in my head anyway.
And how it looks now, alongside the 2nd one for my 9th Company, I can't wait for the Dark Angel version to come out soon.

Contemptor Pattern Iron Warriors Dreadnought(Edited)

This is my Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought that arrived from Forge World a week earlier than I thought it would. So far I've only cut and cleaned the parts and laid them out in the assembly positions. Would of been nice if Forge World would send an assembly sheet out with the kit though. I intend to use my own Twin Linked Bolters on the power fists fitted to the outsides of the hands, as I feel this looks better than the in fist ones that the kit comes with. And I've got images in my head of robots firring from the outside of the fists and I can't remember where they come from. Those robots are the ABC Warriors from 2000AD and the new Cylon Warriors from the re-make of Battle Star Galatica
Cut and laid out
Part built
finished
And a different angle
Since these where taken I've repainted this into the colours of my Dark Angel Successor Chapter The Lions Blades.
