Old School

Job done, the Rouge Trader era Chaos Chuck is finished, the RT Marine scouts for the The Lion's Blades are finished, as stated before the Shuriken Catapult is a counts as heavy bolter in this squad and these guys are the only squad of scouts that aren't designed to be used with any army. The 2nd ed Chaos Dreadnought is done, both close combat weapons are painted up and rather than mess around with magnets I'm just blu tacing the claw and the mechandrils rather than flap around worring about what sized magnet I can fit in there. The scout squad is done, this squad I'm happy to have flip between all of my Marine armies. The last picture is of all the old school metal scouts together.

Monthly Vow

So on Facebook in The 40k For Grown Ups group there is a monthly painting vow where you state what you will get finished by the end if the month, I rather rashly saud I'd get the RT Chaos Chuck and a Raider painted before the month was up. So my vow went out the window on day 5 when I started painting 10 scouts instead that have been sat on my table for months now. I have got my 2nd Chaos Dread and 10 scouts done and dusted and am.now onto gluing the RT Chuck together. Look for more of these as time goes on.

Y Geiriadur Are Re-Enforced

My Fallen Angels are getting some love after being boxed for a while now. I won these 2 venerable old boys on ebay while away on holiday. The 2nd ed metal was a steal and came out well with just a buff from a file and a couple of coats of black, not entirely finished as I still need to touch up the black and add screaming skull highlights as well as the winged sword. Should be finished over the weekend. The 2nd oldhammer mini is the granddaddy of Chaos Dreadnoughts, the RT Chuck. In game terms I'll most likely use this guy as a Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour.

Chosen Formation And Bikes.

Day off yesterday and I attended to some of my Marines, notably the Chosen, I spent a while dry brushing the robes on all 10, after I'd gone over the 2 sephia painted ones with ushabtii bone and given them a nuln oil wash. I like dry brushing, it requires little effort but yeilds great results. I plan to go over the 2nd squad as well to lighten them up on Friday. Onto the bikes, well sprayed the 2 attack bikes and one bike shiny black, these I'll be going over with gw black on Friday morning or my next chance. The riderless bike I'm planning on making into a Chaplin. As you can see all bikes of both Y Unhallowed and The Lion's Blades have been touched up to more closely match the other so they don't look out of place when I try running a Ravenwing Army.

Old Minis and Current Project

So joined another group on Facebook last night and got a couple of photos to show off my old gear, the Deathwing Knights made from the Chucks along side the Rouge Trader Techmarine with the modern Servo Harness and the orginal Venerable Dreadnought. Next up is the next Chosen Sqaud, I was digging in my Knights of Blood box and found 2 robed guys that I've added to the squad to make a second full 10 Marine Chosen Squad. I need to repaint those 2 to match the rest of the squad, also taking the bikes out the back and get those sprayed black today.

Next Squad

So finished the first squad of the narsty narsty Chaosy Khorne Berzerkers and made them into nice Dark Angel Successor Chaptor Assault Marines. The Veteran Sgt is one of my first conversions, he started out as the Captain in the Blackreach box set, I changed the chest piece and head and have added the axe, with all the broken bits from the 'zerkers I'm sure I'll find a right hand for him somewhere. Above is the second squad that I'm going to start later. And in the last photo we have the bikes that I picked up from the post office this morning taking my 2nd Company to 2 full squads, I'm thinking of repainting the 3 Lions Blades bikes so they match the Y Unhallowed bikes a bit more, and say that the red is a veteran status mark. The blue and silver bikes look okay, the silver and red attack bike is loaded with paint so I'm going to have to tidy that one up before I get round to painting it.

Little Steps

First chance to do something since sunday. Really all I got done yesterday and today is in the photo; the Assault Squad has had arms taced on and belts and chains painted, also added the Vet Sgt to the unit. Above them are the robed vets that are going to become a Chaos Chosen Squad. With not much time today so only got the scarlet belts and bits as well as the helmet stripe.

WIP Week begining 13/1/14

Got 9 of the nasty, nasty Khorne Berzerkers (nasty as in Chaos following, not a statement about the state of the models when then arrived) out of their little box over the weekend and gave them a coat of black, I also got the robed veterans out of the case and started taking arms off them so I can fit them to the Berzerkers and make them into my Assault Squads. This unit looks good so far, just need to add some detailing to the black armour, like colouring on the belts, chains and bolt shells and to try them with Jump Packs for size, and of course some normal power packs. The robed vets are being made into Sgts for the The Lions Blades and also for the The Unhallowed, if I have enough of course as I intend to make 10 of them into a Chosen Bodyguard for Cypher in The Unhallowed. The Dev Squads in The Lions Blades didn't get any robed as I feel that the Veteran upgrade, with it's +1 attack and +1 leadership, isn't really worth it when the unit is designed to sit in a hard point and shoot sh...tuff. The 2 Chaos Marine Squads and the 2 Havoc Squads in Y(pronounced "the", see you're even learning Welsh here!) Unhallowed will get their Champions replaced, the current Chosen Squad won't as they were made from Khorne Berzerkers as well and look good as they are. Just now need to decide if I want to to change the Lord to a robe or not as I think that if I do do that I'll have 3 Veterans spare with The Chosen bodyguard for Cypher.

Some Of My Best Work

I don't know why I bought this guy but I did, got him cheaply on ebay as well and so was rather happy when it arrived and I threw it in a ramakin filled with nail varnish remover to clean the old, good paint job off and to start on my own paint job. The other mini went on to become the new Chosen Champion for the Y Geiriadur. I mixed up some green stuff to make a base up for it as well.
So here is the finished item, photo was taken indoors with the camera flash, which was rather harsh I thought as the model looked better in real light than it did in the photo I'd taken of it, and I put this up on Facebook in the Blood Angel group I'm a member of and got trolled for it. I fed the troll and asked to see his work, but none was forthcoming so I put it down to the green eyed monster and thought no more about said troll.
and here is the almost finished model in natural light, outside in my backyard on top of my recycle bin. As I said I'm really proud of how this has come out.

Apoc Schtuff- Retropective

So a couple of years i was chatting to a mate about Apoc and big games, now this guy had a bigger collection than anyone else I know but he turned round and said he wouldn't play an Apoc game as he didn't have any units, I asked him what he meant by this, as with just what's in this pic I've got 1 formation, and I know he had more than this back. What I think he meant was that he didn't have a Super Heavy to throw out and play with, as he does like his one model to rule them all armies. At this point I was working on the Poxy Proxy Predator and hadn't converted it to the PP Banesword as I hadn't seen how much bigger it was. It may seem like I'm rammberling here, and when you look at the length of the photo it's possible that I am, my point is Apoc is not just about Super Heavies it's about what you have in your collection, but having something big in your pocket doesn't hurt.
So as you can follow on the Poxy Proxy Predator label I made my own super heavy when I was made redundanat in 2009, which was also when I got back into 40k gaming as well. As the guys I play against most often are only building up their collections it's going to be some time before I can get a game in with it I think
And lastly we have my latest addition to my Apoc collection, at least that I don't need the Apoc to see whats in there, this is my Predator Assassin Formation made from the Baal, TL Las-Cannon and the Chaos Pred. These are all mk2 Predators from ebay, i was rather lucky to find the Las Cannon kit for sale and got it cheaply as well, thankfully it came with both Las Cannon and Heavy Bolter Sponson weapons so I was able to arm both of The Lions Blades Preds with sponson weapons. All 3 tanks have now been named, Luthers Choler for Y Geiriadur, The Lions Far Reaching Arm for the TW Las cannons and Knowes Fury for the Baal. And with this post coming out on 31-8-13 you might be wondering why I've not talked about the new releases, that would be because I can't get on the fething GW web site to drool over them!

72nd Shadow Highland Rifles

So have finially got around to starting doing the Guard block for Y Geiriadur. These units are from the 72nd Shadow Highland Rifles, the above squad is the first one I've started to paint, a world that had fallen through the cracks in the Administratum and hadne't had any contact from The Imperium for over 1800 years when from out of The Black a small trader found a badly damaged Marine warship, sending out a hail they got a tug to bring the ship in system, and started trying to hail the Marine vessel to let them know they where going to tow them back in system. The Marines themselves where rather unforthcoming on where they had come from, asking first what the year was and would only refer to themselves as Y Geiriadur. Y Geiriadur took it upon themselves to train the local army units to a higher standard and improved their weapons as well. Currently Shadow has sent a probe ship out into The Black trying to regain contact with the wider Imperium.

Y Geiriadur

So while waiting for payday already, really hate 5 week months, I've decided to start the PDF part of this army,as this is the only block on actually being able to throw them down on the table and use them. My goal is to get at least one squad done a week, and with 4 weeks to payday I can then pick up the Forge World DA shoulder pads for the Deathwing Knights and get that unit finished. So far this army has the dodgy Pred that I almost got ripped off on, a metal Furioso Dreadnought, my home made Master and Cypher, 1 squad of Terminators, 4 squads of PDF to paint, 3 Obliterators that need finshing, 2 Mutilators that need finishing, one squad of Autocannon Havocs (if more heavy weapons are needed I can flip them from the Lions Blades), 2 squads of Marines and 2 squads of bikes, there is also the Nephilim/Helldrake flip that I've done as well and possibly the Land Raider to flip over if needed and all in all I've got a fairly cool army here. There are also 35ish marines unasigned in a draw in my hall that I need to do something with and I'm thinking of going back to the Knights of Blood with them or maybe going back and swopping how ever many of the robed assault marines I've got with those and re booting my Daemon Hunting force possibly giving me the chance to filed the terminators a bit more often...
Long term with this army I'm planning/sitting with everything crossed/sending brides to GW hoping that a future DA Supplement is a Fallen Army one and will hopefully be able to finese this army so it can be used by that Codex as well as keeping the Chaos option as well.
The Guard I'm painting will longer term bolt onto a full scale Imperial Guard Army, and will be painted as Browncoats, only difference will be red flak armour plates instead of a red shirt. This project is going to be a long way off though as I have the Eldar to start before I get to that. I may just sell the old metal Necrons to pay for this as 2 armies for The Lions Blades, one Codex Army, one Fallen Army and one Corsair Army are a bit OTT with the Fallen Sisters project (come on GW work out the problem you where having with the plastics!) and the Chaos Android Army project as well I really need to think about down sizing a bit...

Working Overtime, My Ambition Gets Cast Aside

Sorry listening to The Automatic while typing out another blog post at least this time I'm back on track and posting game stuff. So 50+ hour weeks, and 6 days a week aren't leaving me much in the way of hobby time add on a 14 year old and I've got very little chance to do any hobby work done. So first off are the bits from the Dark Talon/ Nephilim kit that I'm not using so i decided to make them into Objective Markers for The Lions Blades.
Next up is my Land Raider that I've got sprayed up in a shiny black and without the Hurricane bolters or assault cannon turret being painted. I am on the look out for Land Raider las cannons and Flame Storm Cannons so I can swop out what I've got and use it to represent all 3, current, classes of Land Rainder. Lets see what the new Codex brings... These 2 photos show it next to my scratch built super heavy The Poxy Proxy Banesword. Looking at these photos I wonder how I ever thought I'd be able to class that thing as a Predator.
