Blue Sky Target Close

With realising or remembering that I only needed to get the Land Raider Proteus finished and I'd hit the blue sky targets I got it primed and base coated during the week.

On Saturday I had a lot of shopping that needed doing so once that was out of the way I put the grand Prix qualifying on and was as unimpressed as I thought I was going to be by the Vegas race. I also made a start on the Proteus Carrier.

The plan for tomorrow is prep chicken for tea, find the chapter icon from the Raven Wing sprue and see if I have 2 of one for the back doors, get a coat of black on it, then details.

Once this is done it's onto this bit of techno heresy.

The latest in a long line of Björn The Fell Handed. There are a couple of Dire Wolves in my eBay basket to give me some more plastic fur to hide the details on this old boy.

I'm probably going about this the worst way possible but that would not be the first time. I do have the Gregor power fist but I'm pretty sure I'll have to find a Terminator arm to attach it to to get a decent fit.

Revised Monthly Vow

Spent most of yesterday going through the Dreadnought boxes and base lined the collection.

As I was checking this I went over the targets for this year and seeing that with only the Land Raider Proteus that I've ignored all year to get those blue sky targets built so found the box and primed it and gave it a black base coat

So with a day off on Saturday plan A is a bit of shopping first thing then see if I can find a rerun of stream and put that on and start building the tank .

Brutalis Dreadnought and Lord Binface

This is the vallejo desert sand I'm using for the bases of the Dreadnought army I'm using a Serpihim sepia wash on this as the agrax earthshade wash left it to dark.

Which looks okay I think need to get the yeril yellow out for High lights.

Made a start on the Brutalis Dreadnought for the Blood Angels army, so far it's had a Mephiston red base coat. Tomorrow's plan is for an agrax earthshade wash when I get in with a evil sunz scarlet layer and then the 2 shades of wild rider red as edge high lights. There are also gold and black details and as this is a close support unit there will be some yellow detailing on some of the inserts on those armour plates.

Lastly for this weekend we have Count Binface our evil overlord. I can provide a link to his manifesto for the London mayoral election if you want to see how evil he is.

Contrast Baal Red

After getting a coat of primer on this one I had a long walk to let the primer dry. When back home after buying some beige primer and getting a coffee and watching the rain from a coffee shop window, I brought it on from the shed, gave the Baal red contrast a very good shake and made a start on the shooty fat Albert. Some places needed a second coat because the grey primer so got them. Once dry it had an agrax earthshade wash all over.

When that was dry I gave it a highlight of Evil Sunz scarlet and then old wild rider red. Then I went over the mechanical areas with black. I'll give them a dry brush with iron warrior in the morning. I'm planning a trip to Wigan first thing to pick up some more Evil Sunz scarlet as the current one is getting a bit dry and I'll probably add a pot of lead bleacher as well and check what textured paints they have in as for something else to the base with.

There's also the gold and details to do.

The Ballistics Dreadnought

Next kit from the Leviathan box, and a favourite of mine, the Dreadnought.

Wow I'm impressed with the ease that this goes together, I started a 10 minute video on YouTube, I'd finished building this before the video finished. If you've built a Redemptor dread you know how difficult the legs can be. This kit has the groin as 2 push fit bits the legs are both 2 piece push fits connecting to the groin at the hips and pushing into the feet.

The body is 3 major parts with 2 pipes and the 2 exhaust covers at the back pushed in.

The weapons go in better than the regular kit version.

I would be very happy if GW took the body of this kit and used it for the redemptor dread in general with just the arms and the extra armour on the Brutalis version as options in the box.

It's currently in the shed getting primed and I'm trying the Baal red contrast on this one as it will be the first one for the Dreadnought army.

Monthly Vow 12th Of May To The 12th Of June.

Yep target of 1 mini and I missed.

Well sort of. I did get most of the dreads sorted for the Blood Angels Dreadnought army, that I have, and the Heavy Intercessors finished.

Target.

Paint The Lion Proxy!

I have made a start there. I did buy a Nephilim/ Black Talon kit off a mate last week so build and paint that and hopefully the missile marines for this month. I did get my hands on a Leviathan box so looking forward to getting that and will add the mortis Redemptor Dread to the Dread Filled Month, which could well be stretched out here, I'd like to get the new Terminators done as well and that Librarian would be nice to add the 1st Company.

In Summary.

Paint The Lion, which I've started, Nephilim Jet fighter finished, the Leviathan box mortis dread built at least, 6 of the Terminators and a stretch goal of the missile marines.

In Review.

I started with the bases.

As well as getting some Dreads located for the 10th Edition Blood Angels Dreadnought army.

The first thing I did was start on the heavy Intercessors as I chickened out of doing The Lion.

This was sourced from ebay for the dread army just needs a clean.

The order arrived with my Contemptors, which I put together. I do like those sculpted bodies but it needs some knee pads and shoulder decoration.

And Saturday afternoon I got around to getting The Lion built at last.

The current state of it.

Trying to decide between a nuln oil or a Coelia Greenshade wash on the robe and great coat.

4 Of 4

Got Contemptor number 3 built yesterday with moulded body and plastic kit. It would look better with at least 1 knee pad and 1 shoulder pad that was moulded.

I've still not started The Lion

3 Out Of 4 Built

Friday and Saturday was a day spent building the 2 different Contemptors for the Blood Angels Dreadnought army. Number 3 is planned to be primed around paying the gas bill on Monday.

The Brutalis Dreadnought is now only missing 2 claws and a single top plate for those storm bolters. I have a mind to add the Ultramarine dread to this army and add some boltguns on the arms.

Monthly Vow 12th Of May To The 12th Of Junes

So no missile marines, no heavy Intercessors and a potential change of plan for the Brutalis Dreadnought, along side getting my First Company up to 99 strong makes up for some of that missed target, as well as actually getting my paws on The Lion and some gaining some focus on how I'm going to at least start the Dreadnought army with 3 Blood Angels Contemptors and probably the Brutalis I have as well as. Tomorrow{Saturday} I've got the house to myself and will be going through some boxes to find all the dreads I've already painted for the Blood Angels and see what I've got that could be used if the Casterferrium dread is getting shunted into Legends.

The Target.

The Lion.

Contemptor dread weapons.

Bonus - Heavy Intercessors, missile marines.

Review Time.

Oh my goodness, 75 Terminators and 15 Blade Guard Veterans. I was surprised to find I have that many, and I quickly switched my plan to focus on the Blade Guard Veterans.

I focused on what I thought was 6 Blade Guard and found it was only 5 so had to grab one off ebay to finish this squad and take me to 96. It took time as I wanted to get each shield looking unique and like a veteran has spent time personalising his war gear.

And well when the first company is at 96 strong the only thing to do when I got my hands on The Lion was to get those Blade Guard out and make a start on them.

I wanted this squad to be gun heavy rather than mixed.

I had bought some beige primer from Halfords a while ago and used that on these thinking to wash over the primer. Then went ahead with a Zandari dust base coat, nuln oil wash, ushabati bone layer, screaming skull layer, red details on them.
And with them finished and the Leviathan box set preview at Warhammer Fest I can see that target that has literally been a day dream and nothing even remotely serious became not only concrete but also attainable. Leviathan gives me 5 that I can use to replace the 5 scratch builds, which takes me to 104, but the later individual box will make it 109 and I'm hoping I can use the Deathwing Knights bits to turn that box into those. There is also the Indomitus pattern Terminators for the Heresy rumored to be coming and if the new boys are too much work, I'll just switch the ones that I make them out of to this box. I need to check that heresy road map.

I used this dread as a test piece for The Lion, not sure if I'll use this technique beyond him either, just a few random marines that are greeny black.
I did a good job on the body and I really like it, I just wish they'd included more bits, like the knee guards and shoulders, seeing as if you buy the body and the Contemptor box it's about the same price as the resin version was and it's only the body that's got the fancy body work. The  only way I'd not buy  another one though is if I found a site that sells the oop DA Contemptors.
