First Steps For The Commissar

 The head is optional at this point, but the power fist and bolt pistol have to stay.

The rocket bra idea actually worked better than I thought it would. I'm going to have to pack them both in some custom foam when they're done and keep some superglue handy to fix them, or get some tiny magnets. 

Björn The Betrayer And Tank Girl Tank Army

 Work has been hectic this week, once home I'm just a bit burnt out and not hitting the Obliteraters. I mean green stuff is a pain in the arse to work with time wise.

Plan A is to get some height on the base on Saturday, and start painting on Sunday. Hopefully the Hatchette package will be at the post office this weekend which means I can get the Jakhals started and Lord on Juggernaut. The last package arriving in June is Berzerkers and the Mauler Fiend, which bar the predator will see this army finished.

My next project is the Tank Girl inspired Tank Battalion. I have 3 boxes of the armageddon tank battalion and 2 Commissar Greaves Centaurs.

The plan for these 2 is Commissar Tank Girl for one. I have the Eshar Gang box, an Ork rocket rack with 4 rockets so I can do both versions, tank mounted and on foot. 

The second one is planned to be used for heavy weapon platoon so they can shoot out. The other 3 Centaurs are going to be veteran squads, guard, mixed with Orlocks and Esher gangers. 

There's 4 Rogal Dorn tanks, so one is being promoted to HQ, I'm thinking of moving one of the Dorn Tanks to the following Imperial Guard and using the Leman Russ and Malcador tanks, with a 3rd Russ to make a squadron of 3 

So yes, plan A didn't quit work out as the Obliteraters don't yet have any height but I finish early in the morning and can make a start on that. 

Although I did get some paint on them tonight, one is totally Wraithbone, one has dawns tone on the flesh and one has me pheston red on the exposed skin, all 3 had the flesh tone contrast painted over it with the wraithbone and dawns tone looking good, the mepsheton I again need to see it in normal lighting, but I don't think I'll use that again. 

Also I made a start on my Astra Militarum counts as Commissar Greaves on foot. 

Need some file work to hollow out the rocket bases where they'll fit to her chest, need the power fist and will have to check what pistol she's packing so I can make sure she's at least armed correctly. 

19/05/25 Obliteraters

 

They'll look great when they're finished, but this is the part I really don't like with green stuff, the fact it takes ages for it to set. 

So tonight I green stuffed the heads to the bodies, adding some fur details over some of the bare skin on the rat Oger bodies.

I'm going to pull some bits out of boxes to find something they can stand on, the cow catcher on the Greaves Centaur is plan A for 2 of them, the 3rd might get a dead body or some other armour plates.

Obliteraters

 

While locked in my brain loop of not being able to start the Guard army, I did at least make a start on the Obliteraters for the regular Chaos side of the army. 

So at work tonight I brought them with me to get the weapons them. Plenty of green stuff used to mount the weapons. 

The Thunder Wolf heads work so much better, and the reason for these guys having bigger heads is you need more of a brain to fire weapons than you do to charge in and smack the opposition with your sword arms. I did forget the glue, so will glue heads tomorrow and once dry, mount on the bodies. The 2 Commissar Greaves Centaurs are due Wednesday / Thursday, so hopefully I can use the spare decoration to stand these guys on to give them some height. 

Change Of Priorities

 You know how it goes in this hobby, you make a plan and then something new and shiny comes along and distracts you.

You think on it and decided to dive into the idiot rabbit hole and do a for the giggles army. For the avoidance of doubt this plan has already changed twice since I started writing this post. 

So yes I got everything together for a bragging post. The Russ was bought for a defunct Necromunda game and was already slightly a joke when I got it, I shared it with the hobby chat group and the conversation spun my brain up. 

The yearly plan has stayed over all the same, seeing what's in the 11th edition box I'm okay with literally skipping the box and I've already spent that money on three boxes of the Astra Militarum Tank Battalion, which I'm going to focus on a tank heavy period, with guard and Genestealer cult units to give me a break from big stuff.

I'm getting an Escher Gang box with the plan to build a few to look as Tank Girl as possible 

With a plan to sack off Commissar Greaves and use the rocket bra Tank Girl as a proxy with as close to the weapons as I can get from the various sprues in my house. I just need a couple of rockets and an Escher box... 

The Björn Brutalis Dread is still a thing that's going to happen, I still need to do the lightning claws for the Assault terminators as well as the Deff Dredd for the Orks.

With the Hatchette subscription finishing in June by my maths, I'm looking at the second half of the year being tanks and Guard and Genestealer cult with the rule book to buy.

Monthly Vow Post, April The 12th to May The 12th.

My targets got scattered everywhere this month. I know I didn't get my targets reached. I hit the 80 minis I'd pledged, getting 94 GW minis done with 97 minis finished in total. I got the brain lock again with wanting to finish the Björn The Betrayer project but the publication order wasn't compatible with me and I just couldn't get paint on a 10 man squad of Imperial Guard. 

So plans, buy the victrix box for 3 Honour Guard to add to my Ultramarine traitors and run them as a Veterans squad for the Björn The Betrayer with the Calgar Deamon Prince. I need to paint Sicarrius's new helmet and Titus for this. Dependingbon when they arrive this could be next month. 

I'm working on the Obliteraters tomorrow, green stuff the weapons to bodies, I need to finish the Defiler and I think I'll save the predator to last, and build that with the Guard tank. So I've got the Lord on Juggernaut to build and then when the Hatchette package arrives I can get this last tranche of the Betrayers War Band done, which takes me to issue 86, so with 90 issues there's 1 more after this month, so June should see me finishing this army and starting on the guard tank battalion.

Review Time. 

Pretty much the Warp Talons and mk2 assault squad. 

I got both of these squads finished, I'm glad the Warp Talons are finished...

I was practicing the camo paint with these 2 and as I was doing greys. 

I got the tiny Tiberos the Red Wake done. 

Apparently the best solution for the bonding studs is to buy 1 mm ball bearings and glue them onto the body after drilling a small hole for it. So yeah that's big Tiberos waiting a bit longer.

And the last bit was starting these monsters, I have a plan to stand them on some spare armour plates from the Centaur I don't build as Graves pimp mobile to give them some height, those should be with me by mid week so I can spend Thursday and Friday looking at mounting those.

I'm Having Another Brain Lock

 Because of the way the Combat Patrol series has landed, I've hit a brain lock moment, I want to finish the Björn The Betrayer army first but I had to wait through the Genestealer cult and Guard first, which meant I surpassed my target of 80 minis, I reached 93 and had the guard squad built and ready to go but just couldn't jog my brain to get the squad painted.

So I spent most of the time this week working on 2 Veterans squads, using a mix of Necromunda Oorlocks and guard. 

While I was trying to condense some stuff down in the bed room I found my first alternate history minis, my Deamon Prince Calgar, the Cato Sicarrius mini that's lost it's head and probably the Ultramarine from the unused Army on Parade with the Dreads. I do have a Titus mini on sprue which has a helmet and bare head so I'll give Cato the helmet and build Titus with the bare head, plan A is find a couple of the Honour Guard on ebay cheap to make  5 man Veterans squad for the Björn The Betrayer project. 

Waiting for some Thunder wolves to arrive for the heads on the Obliteraters, just thinking what I can have them standing on, I do have an idea... 

And the {already} revised plan for the Guard army. I had a box on order for the Tank box that I picked up yesterday, I've ordered one on a 3rd party site that's arriving much later this month. I'd hoped to grab a 3rd box yesterday and pootled down to Wigan early to grad a box. I got there about 9.40 and was 4th in the queue, the 2 guys in front of me bought the 2 boxes the store got in. So I was on ebay and managed to grab a 3rd box on my way home, as well as 2 boxes of the Commissar Greaves Centaur, which means plan B is now a go; 3 Squadrons of 2 Hippogriff AFV, 4 Centaurs with 3 Veterans squads and a heavy bolter heavy weapon team lead by Commissar Greaves and her squad, a Dorn Command tank 3 Dorns and an option to run a Leman Russ Squadron 

The Necromunda 8th.

 Well good day so far.

Organised a plan for my birthday, which is the 8th of May this year as I'm working next week.

I've got an assured box of the Guard tank box on order from the local shop, while I was out sorting tickets for the Sheep Detectives on the 8th of May my neighbour took the Hatchette package in.

When I got home I'd got the Guard Sentinel and the Khorne Lord on Juggernaut and the primium set 4 with a Broodcovern and the Rogal Dorn Battle Tank.

So my armoured section is looking pretty serious with 2 Dorn tanks, a Leman Russ, a Malcador, the 2 Hippogrifs and the Centaur with a Dragoon mounted squad.

So now I need an actual idea of colours as I'm nearly ready to start, I found an old Bone Head Ogryn that I'm going to use as a test mini when I've got the jump pack section finished.

Speaking of which

I definitely went the right way with these, 3 boxes of Warp Talons would have killed me with all that trim. 

Plan for tonight is a Fang low light, high lights on the brass, and get some metallic on the weapons of the assault squad. 

First 5 Raptors.

 As previously mentioned with Harkan World Claimer I'm keeping these as dark as possible, to suggest that they'll strike from a dark sky.

The jump packs on these are rather tidy, the glowing exhaust idea isn't going to be doable here.

I got the low light of Fang done last night and then went and focused on the jump packs, getting base coat on, wash with crimson, then metallics. The metallics got a wash with reikland flesh wash. As it was getting late I let everything dry and called it a night. 

Productive Day

 I got down to Wigan on Wednesday to show case some of my minis that's I've painted for the Million Miniatures Pledge, and we add my 77 to the total, taking the shop total to over 900.

The keen eyed might notice that the Helbrute isnt the one I've just finished. 

And with the event finishing on the 9th of May I should be able to get a trip to the shop on the day.

And I finished off the Kharne in a Kontempor as well before starting to put the mk2 assault Marines together.

I brought 5 with me to start tonight, the Raptors have been ordered and are being delivered to work so I don't miss them, which takes me up to 93.

Crap I need another 5 minis on top tiny Tiberos the Red Wake and Ursual Creed... Plan A right now is check the Guard stuff for a small squad. 

Kharne In A Kontemptor?

 So a long time ago I bought a World Eaters Contemptor Dread, the fancy World Eaters one.

That 2015 Malal project went the way of the dodo. 

I did get a nice crisp line on the torso though 

So it's sat unloved and disassembled in various boxes for over a decade, I didn't even revive it for the dreadnought Legion project where I used the Mk4 I'd picked up on Ebay and recent repainted for the Björn The Betrayer project.

So with the plan for this month switching I dug this guy out and I'd already done a couple of things I had planned. 

I'd brought the screaming skull and wraith bone with me tonight to get that done and the bronze trim. If I hadn't napped so aggressively I would have looked for the Kantor blue for those sections on the dread.

Looking at the painting guide app I need to pick up a couple of paints tomorrow when I get down to Wigan as well as the Warp Talons. Then it's a build day when I get home. 

Yes I will add some more to the shield. 

Monthly Vow March 14th to April The 12th.

 I did say Dread Filled Month for this one, but I'm not sure that that is going to happen.

Next Saturday I'm off down to Warhammer World, I've got a double sleep on Wednesday and Thursday, and in April to the week off in May, I've not got a lot of time off. So I'm thinking the 3 blood Angels dreads I've had on ice for ages, the Eight Bound possessed and the Legionnaires squad, the Havoc squad also needs finishing off, and there's a tiny Tiberos and the Tiberos The Less Tiny planned. 

Just had a thought about using an Eight Bound as a base for a Tiberos conversion, the size feels like it's right, there's way to much work needed to clean the armour up to be achieved this month. I'll think about it for a future project.

After finishing the legionnaires and 2 of the triplets I worked out where I was and so as to switch to the targets of 80 minis for my pledge card and 100 in total I'm shelving the vast majority of the dreads and this week plan A is a big assembly day. Wednesday I'm heading down to Wigan with the Triplets and some of Björn The Betrayer's war band for pic on the table, with a plan to get a Warp Talons box, bring it home and get them built and the 10 mk2 assault Marines. So by my working out, 77 +15 is 97, I have a World Eaters Contemptor that I'm going to call Kharne, the tiny Tiberos and Ursula Creed to take me to 100. I'm hoping this can be done before the 30, or when the pledge ends in May.

I did buy myself some more of the paint pens this month, a gold one and a brass one with the chip pens added as well. Neex to watch an instruction video for those, as well as a plastic putty pen for the bonding studs on Tiberos. 

Review Time. 

The first 5 long fangs for Björn The Betrayer where done. I like how they've come out. I just wish I hadn't lost the damn arms of some of them.

I got the Eight Bound maniacs started at home but as I had a back to back sleep I took them to work with me to finish them off. I knocked out all that trim in just under 20 minutes a mini with the pen. The layers were finished on separate nights as I only had a couple of hours each night. 

I also tried chat gpt to give me a header image, putting the Eight Bound in Trumpton Town Square, painting the town red.

The Captain arrived and I got everything together for Tiberos, then put this on hold.

The Spearhead series has started, I wasn't interested in this, then saw the Rat Ogers and thought 'I could turn this into Mutilaters...' and grabbed a copy to try that idea. 

I put that thought about vastly different base coats, with Averland Sunset, Ogyrn Camp and Raketh flesh, then gave all 3 the contrast flesh I have. I'd found a brass paint pen and used that on the few areas of these I thought would work. 

I added some tactical rocks to give them height as they looked like they needed it.

I am really pleased how these came out, seeing as they dropped from nowhere. 

The Legionnaires got finished it's a nice looking squad, I got them done at home and work.

I used the gold marker pen to get these done, the reikland flesh wash and highlights done at work.

April is not shaping up to be a good month, time isn't easy. 

At this point I did a count on what I'd done and how far off my target I was for the Million Miniatures Pledge, with this 12 I'd hit 75 out of 80, with the Helbrute and the last of the Triplets I'm at 77. I looked at the Defiler and thought about how much time that's going to take and thought about a shift. 

This is still a nice mini mechanic wise, but it's going on the back burner as my first day off in April is the 22nd, so to reach my target and maybe even reach 100 minis.
